Installation¶
The editors come in three forms. Pick the one that suits you: a project made in one opens in the others, since its files are the same (Projects and files).
The Intrepid Circuit Editor is an extension of Visual Studio Code 1.85 or newer.
- Install the extension. From a
.vsixfile: in VS Code, open the Extensions view, its ⋯ menu, Install from VSIX…, and choose the file. From the Visual Studio Marketplace, where it isformalmethods.intrepid-vscode: search Intrepid Circuit Editor in the Extensions view. The Python extension comes with it. -
Install intrepyd in a Python 3.11 or newer, the one VS Code uses for your workspace (Python: Select Interpreter):
The editor runs intrepyd in that interpreter, out of sight, to simulate, verify and generate tests. To use another one, set
intrepyd.pythonPath(Settings). -
Check it works. The Intrepid icon appears in the Activity Bar, on the left. Help: Get Started offers the walkthrough Get started with the Intrepid Circuit Editor.
Some features need a recent intrepyd: 0.20 to simulate and verify, 0.21
for subsystems, optional pins and proof certificates, 0.22 for MC/DC
tests, 0.25 for the tests of a requirement whose formula uses next.
With an older one, the editor says what is missing.
Intrepid Studio is the same editors in your browser, served from your own machine on a folder of yours, without VS Code. It needs Python 3.11 or newer.
-
Install it, with intrepyd, which comes as its dependency:
or, from a wheel file you received,
pip install intrepid_studio-<version>-py3-none-any.whl. -
Start it on a folder, which is your project (made if missing):
It opens the browser on the editors. Leave the command running while you work; Ctrl+C stops it.
The options are in Settings and options. The studio listens on your machine only (127.0.0.1), with a random token in the address it opens: nothing leaves the machine.
The demo is the same editors on a website: nothing to install. Your project stays in your browser; Project › Download the project (zip) saves it as a zip, whose files open in the extension and in the studio.
intrepyd runs on the site's server, within limits on how long and how often, which the site shows. To go further, use the extension or the studio, which have none.
Then¶
- The engines that verify and generate tests run under a license: The engines' license says which one you have and how to get another.
- The tutorial starts from an empty folder.
